Feedback Conversations & Trust

Feedback Conversations & Trust

Of the last six Feedback Fitness workshops I have run, the word trust has been mentioned (by a participant) in the first five minutes. Maybe it has been happening for a long time, and I’m just starting to see the pattern, and look for it. Trust is the foundation of every strong team. As a leader, one of your most powerful tools for strengthening trust is feedback conversations.

Trust doesn’t just happen—it’s earned through consistent behaviours like empathy, openness, transparency, fairness, and genuine consideration for the opinions and experiences of others. Trust is built by asking for help, asking questions and following through. When these qualities are present, feedback conversations become something people welcome rather than something they fear.

On the flip side, feedback conversations that occur in a psychologically unsafe environment can damage trust levels.

💡 Tip: The future of feedback will involve using feedback conversations to build and strengthen trust between leaders and team members.

Psychological safety is essential here. When people feel psychologically safe, they are more likely to open up, reflect, and implement feedback. They’re also more willing to collaborate, share ideas, and step into challenges because they know you’ve got their back.

This is where becoming Feedback Fit makes all the difference.

Through 1:1 Feedback Coaching for Leaders and Feedback Fitness Workshops, you will be equipped with the tools, confidence and clarity to offer feedback in ways that build trust and drive performance. Whether navigating a tough conversation or just trying to boost day-to-day engagement, your ability to have feedback conversations with care and courage sets the tone.

Let’s build a workplace culture where feedback fuels trust, and trust fuels everything else.

📅 Let’s discuss how we can work together to support your leaders and teams.
